The Mixing Up Curriculum Approach

Making Learning Fun
At Mixing Up Curriculum, we believe that all curriculum, no matter the content area, can be engaging and reach all learners. As a first-year teacher at a Title 1 middle school, Julia Mixon was confronted with a great challenge: with over 90% of her students performing years below grade-level and over 70% being Emergent Bilingual students, how was she supposed to teach on-level curriculum effectively?

After spending years researching proven strategies to reach all of her students and experimenting with positive rewards systems, Julia mastered this challenge that has become far too common in today's educational climate. Julia is now one of the most awarded teachers in her district and even holds the coveted 2024 Award for Outstanding Teaching that is presented to two teachers across the state of Texas each year.

Mixing Up Curriculum details Julia Mixon's research-based practices and interactive activities in an effort to better create a positive and engaging learning environment in classrooms across the nation that are facing similar challenges. By offering one-on-one instructional coaching and many of her tried-and-true resources, we ensure effective behavior management and a fun learning experience for both teachers and students.
